With remote work and studying becoming more prevalent nowadays, people are looking for more places to sit down and get productive. A quiet, comfortable place with free and uninterrupted Wi-Fi connection, lots of power sockets, and serves loads of coffee and snacks is ideal. Luckily, there are plenty of cafes in Singapore that have these and more.

So why limit yourself to your friendly neighbourhood Starbucks? Pack your laptops, books, and other work/study essentials and get down to business at these excellent cafes located in different areas in the Little Red Dot.

  1. My Awesome Cafe

Located on the ground floor of the former Telok Ayer Chung Hwa Free Clinic, My Awesome Cafe is one of those vintage cafes that give off a warm, relaxing ambience that is great for squeezing out your creative juices.

The quirky, retro aesthetic is complemented by food and drinks that are definitely worth your money. Coffees range from SGD 4 to 6, and their array of sandwiches go for SGD 14 to 20. Their protein-packed My Awesome Salad (SGD 16), is a solid favourite. The cafe also has a selection of beers and liquors for those who want to chill after work.

2. City Sprouts

It’s just so easy to get into the work zone at City Sprouts, Singapore’s first plot-share urban farm. This multi-concept space is built on what used to be the Henderson Primary School Campus. The large repurposed canteen houses five food establishments, from which you can get your fill of single-origin and home blend coffee. The prices are super affordable at SGD 1.50 for traditional kopi and teh.

There are filling meals to sustain your working energy. Have a Japanese rice bowl from O-Kome (from SGD 10), Pulled Lamb Kebab (SGD17), or a juicy cheeseburger from Dirty Buns (SGD11).

A power socket is one of the primary needs of those working in cafes, and Genius Central makes sure that you don’t have to fight for charging space. This sprawling cafe has nearly one socket for each seat, so you can rest easy and use up your laptop battery with confidence. Inside, there are single-person tables and long desks, which is just perfect for meetings.

5. Commune Cafe

Millenia Walk is one of Central Singapore’s quieter malls, given the office lunch crowd’s absence. This makes Commune Cafe an excellent place for those who prefer a more peaceful atmosphere for working and studying. Located on the second floor, Commune Cafe is an offshoot of a furniture store, contributing to its sophisticated but relaxed vibe. Their alfresco-style seating is great for those who want to work surrounded by fresher air.

Great coffee is a given here because Commune Cafe uses beans from Common Man Coffee Roasters. Sip one of their aromatic brews for just SGD 3.50 and sample their generous dessert offerings, such as their chocolate tarts (SGD 4) and chocolate banana waffles topped with ice cream (SGD 8.50).
